Example of a habitat set-up for your dragon
We suggest following a similar lay-out as the ones we have pictured for establishing your enclosure habitat for your bearded dragon. The hot zone or basking zone should be at one end of the tank with a choice of basking sites with a cork bark log to climb on and a reptile hammock for lounging in. A hide box or den for when your dragon wants some privacy or a secure place to sleep should also be available. We recommend the "cooler" end of the tank be kept free of habitat furniture to allow for a roomy place for roaming, place for using the bathroom and open area to keep the food plate or bowl. In this cage we are using ZooMed brand Repti-Sand as the substrate. We mix the desert red with the white to ad contrast to the feeder crickets which will become white once they are dusted with calcium. This is a ultra-fine grained sand that will clump for easier cleaning (similar to how cat litter clumps). We find the red to be a little dusty so we mix the white in with the desert red which has worked well for us.
